About

I was always interested in photography. When I was a kid (1970’s), my grandfather was a photographer and he shot in black and white slide film. Whenever I would spend the night with him and my grandmother, we would set up his slide projector on the kitchen counter top and project his slides on the wall. He would tell me a little bit about where he was, what he was doing and what the subject matter was in the images.

Fast forward to 2000. I was always interested in storms and severe weather, in particular hurricanes. After seeing the movie Twister in 1996, I had to find away to become a “storm chaser”. It took a few years but I bought a manual film camera, a Minolta, and started out shooting lightning on negative film. After the first lightning catch on film, I was hooked. In mid 2001 I met my colleague and friend Mark Sudduth of hurricane track.com and began chasing and tracking hurricanes. And later that same year, during the Leonid meteor shower, I met friend and fellow local storm chaser William Coyle.

After a few years of shooting negative film, I made the move to slide film, never to return to negatives. I had become my grandfather in terms of shooting slides now and the images looked so much better than negatives. Traveling out to the plains to chase tornadoes, traveling the southeast coast in the hunt for tropical weather, I also bought myself several camcorders and started videography of those storms. You can find the link to my Youtube channel linked at the bottom of each of the pages here.

Then came the digital age! Thought I would never make that jump, but after the cameras reached 5 megapixels, the quality was there and I left the film days behind. All while chasing hurricanes, tornadoes and lightning. The quality of the equipment improved with each piece of new technology and so did my images.

Over the years, I have expanded into landscapes, wildlife and even joining a friend and fellow chaser, William Coyle in the world of wedding and portrait photography.

I’ve been married to my wife and best friend Cristal for nearly 12 years now and have been together for more than 20. I have to thank her and my wonderful parents who have supported my passion for storm chasing and photography. I love you guys dearly.

I hope you like and enjoy the site as it comes together.
